Well, it's not the news I wanted to hear. My cancer is no longer "stable" It has progressed in my lung and lymphnodes. My run with perjeta, herceptin and taxotere has come to an end. My oncologist is trying to get Tykerb and Xeloda approved by my insurance. Once approved I will no longer take my original medication through my mediport every 3 weeks but rather my new medication In pill form two weeks on and one week off. I'm worried how my body will react to stopping the medication I've been on for just over a year and starting something completely new. Will it be a shock to my body? I'm worried of the side effects of the new medications. Especially the sores in my mouth and the hand and foot syndrome which causes my palms and bottom of my feet to dry up and crack and bleed making it difficult to walk. Immediate after spinal surgery. (Results)

          Well,  I got out of surgery on Tuesday, its Thursday night for me now.  I've been in and out of consciousness as you can only imagine.  Apparently, everything was a success.  Dr. J Jude was able to remove most of the cancerous mass that had begun to disintegrate three vertebrae that were pushing into my spinal column, which pushed into my spinal cord space (what little space I had left).           It was so urgent that this be done.  My cancer treatment had to be "put on hold" due to the severity of my situation.   My oncologist told me "after" surgery that a simple "sneeze" could have caused me to be paralyzed, on a ventilator wearing a diaper for the rest of my life!             It's so very hard to hear this because I know I'll never be "out of the woods" I'll need to monitor and continually shrink the ...

Surgery for Port Placement tomorrow

           I'm not tired enough to sleep. Grrr! I'm too anxious because I'm have surgery tomorrow bright and early.  I'm having a Port placed on my chest. This will make it easier for them to administer Chemo. Everyone I've talked to who has one says it's so much more convenient.  I'm happy to hear that cause surgery scares me to be quite honest. Even if it is an outpatient procedure.  For those of you that don't know me very well, I can be a bit of a scaredy cat. Leaving at 6am, surgery at 7am and hopefully I'll be out of there by noon. I pray that everything goes well.           As far as my throat is concerned I may have noticed the slightest improvement when I had my soup around 3pm which gives me hope that things are healing but when I had my fruit smoothie around 6pm I had difficulty again.
